Dr. Parag Kolhe

PhD Graduate

Parag Kolhe graduated with his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University in 2005. He finished his B.S. in Polymer Engineering from Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune, India in 1999 where he graduated with highest honors.

He joined Wayne State University in Fall 99 where is initial work was in the development of a new biomaterial for application in tissue engineering. He studied the mechanical properties of blends of chitosan and polyethylene glycol and characterized the molecular interactions using FTIR and X-ray diffractions. This work has been published in Biomacromolecules.

Major part of his PhD thesis involved synthesis, characterization of dendrimer/hyperbranched polymer based drug delivery system. He deals with chemical synthesis of conjugates/complexes of dendrimer/hyperbranched polymer for specific application in inflammation, cancer and asthma. The results obtained with these studies have been published in International Journal of Pharmaceutics and Journal of biomaterial science: polymer edition.
