Dr. Sezen Gurdag

PhD Graduate

Email: ak1368@wayne.edu

Sezen graduated with her PhD in Chemical Engineering in May of 2006. She recieved her BS degree in Chemical Engineering in 1998 from Istanbul Technical University as top ranking student in the faculty. In the same year, she started her MS study in Chemical Engineering Department at Bogazici University from where she graduated in 2001 upon the completion of the thesis titled "An investigation of the use of activated carbon as catalyst support for the oxidation of CO".

Sezen's research interest is the development of dendrimer-anticancer drug to achieve higher therapeutic response. Currently, she is working on the synthesis and characterization of polyamidoamine dendrimer (PAMAM)-methotrexate (MTX) conjugates. In vitro activity characterization of these conjugates is performed using isogenic cells lines for better understanding of the action mechanistics of the conjugates dictated by the properties of the dendritic carrier. The results obtained have been submitted to Bioconjugate Chemistry.
